I want you for ...

There should be the Uncle Sam poster here :-), but it is so widely used... I want only to ask if you aren't interested in joining us in kenjutsu, jodo or iaido trainings. This term we have a low attendance in comparison with last year and the recruitment leaflets are still not prepared. You can read more on our webpages.

Export/import all your database

I have many backlogs at the faculty, the one was new server with user databases and other services. So I spent this Sunday moving them from one server to another. PostgreSQL and MySQL were easy, but I had some problems with installing Oracle 10g on Gentoo x86-64. I made a short notes for me on how to export/import data from them.

With the indentity of user postgres dump all:
$ pg_dumpall -D >pgsql.dmp
On new machine init database under postgres:
$ initdb -E UTF-8 --locale=cs_CZ.UTF-8 /var/lib/pgsql/data
Configure and run database:
$ vim /var/lib/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf
$ /etc/init.d/postgresql start
Recover database under user postgres:
$ psql -f pgsql.dmp

Dump all data:
$ mysqldump -u root -p -A >mysql.dmp
On new server init the data structures, configure and start server and import old data:
$ vi /etc/my.cnf
$ mysql_install_db
$ /etc/init.d/mysqld start
$ mysql -u root <mysql.dmp
(or look at the mysqlimport command)

To export/import Oracle there are exp/imp utilities in $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.
$ exp file=oracle.dmp full=y
$ imp file=oracle.dmp full=y

Moving to Blogspot

Update your RSS reader, please. I'm temporarily moving to Blogspot.

I planned to create my own simple blogging application, because I hate Blosxom for using PATH_INFO. I have already created the backend for loading/saving blog posts from/in data files, but I won't have time to finish that in near future (for reasons which I'll uncover in another blogpost). The Blogspot was a natural choice, because I want to have most online data in Google.

I have imported 4 blogposts from my old blog to see how it works. I'm not very satisfied with the style of writing (but it's only question of time) and I don't like what Blogspot does with images (simple image is than few lines of JavaScript and CSS). Good thing is that pictures are stored in Picasa, but if you delete a blogpost, the pictures still remain there.

I'll try to convert my old design, which I like more than the default ones.

My daily routine

I was looking for something in the Google web search history and found statistics of my hourly search activity after nearly two years. Yes, I don't wake up early ;-)

Sad funny recording

My flatmate and classmate from the secondary school and the university Michal told me, that today on the Internet is popular this recording of a woman calling to some ad distribution company. Something you have heard many times, it is funny and man always thinks if something like that can be real or is well prepared. But this one is different -- it is not much funny, because I know that woman. She was my class-teacher at the secondary school for one year and teacher of the Accounting for four years. I can now only think if people are really getting stupid in late age or I was only blind those days. Probably the second. When I look at the website of my former school, there is no longer Jindra KaČEnová among teachers.

Update: Kompost has already noticed her.

LifeInLine in Brno and Pardubice

Because I had my skate repaired, I joined my friends in skating races. First one in Brno was a dead failure -- I came, put my skates on and started immediately without time to prepare. I started very slow to save my energy for last laps. But I was tired soon and happy to finish at all nearly 5 min slower than last year. Second race was in Pardubice and I was more satisfied with result, although all my friends were faster than I was. The only trouble was a fall at the beginning of race, when I abraded my calf and forearm a bit.

It looks like that I have praised my repaired skate too much. After two skating, lace loop is going to brake soon again :-(.

Repaired inline skate

Yesterday I made a short trip to Zlín, because I needed to repair my broken inline skate. One of the lace loops cracked during the lace in spring. HELIA Sport sent my skate to some servis in Brno, but I got it back unrepaired. People there suggested me to try Gemma Sport servis (but I didn't have luck there) or send skate to the servis in Zlín. Several months I wasn't able to send the skate by mail, so I took it there myself. Mr. Hýbner from servis was able to repair that in 20 minutes for 38 CZK and it looks like new (the same lace loop). When I heard the price, I had to laugh and left him 100 CZK. If you wondered why there were no submissions about skating this year, now you know. But most races of this year are over already :-(.

When you have some problem with skates (or whatever), you can try to contact that servis:

Because I had some free time in Zlín, I went to their museum. There was a permanent exhibition of the M. Zikmund and J. Hanzelka. But in 30 minutes I saw only a part, then I left to meet Lenka and Wenca.

Below you can see what was the problem with my skate:
